Springy!

Back from the road trip, I was still in a Springy mood and looking for blueish colours. Ended up with teal on my nails: Hippie Chic (Colorama).

Colour is gorgeous, and somewhat dusty. Definitely not as bright as I'd expected. It was a perfect match with my blouse and scarf worn to work during the week! ;-)

I thought the colour would look good in matte, so a layer of Cobertura Fosca da Cor (Colorama) was added a few days later. I really enjoyed the result: both the look and the feel!

Easter Mani

Once again, gotta remind you that I haven't been blogging in real time. This mani was done back in April, for Easter Sunday.

I chose some pastel colours that I had in my Sephora by O.P.I. minis assortment, and the details were made with a dotting tool.

The base colour was "Natural Environ-Mint", a light pastel blue matching my pajamas!

I was surprised with the result, because I did expect more of a green/minty colour...
As any light pastel colour, this baby blue required 3 layers for full coverage and no streaks.
The lighter outer dots are Dear Diary, a baby peachy pink creme. The purple dots in the middle were seen before: "It's Hippo To Be Square".

The bright orangey metallic dots and the zigzag pattern were "How Cute Is That?".

When looking for inspiring Easter manis, I came across Kelsie's Nail Files' matte design (her bunny is the cutest little thing!). A matte top coat (Cobertura Fosca da Cor - Colorama) was a great change after a couple of days. I thought the matte Easter Eggs were a better match than the glossy ones!! :-)

How cute is that? ;-)

Playing with 'top' coats

After a few days, the gold shimmer started getting old. It was too shimmery (duh!). I layered another coat of Carbono for the manicure to last a few more days and, right before removing it all, I decided to try a few top coat combinations!

Here are the stars (all from Colorama):
- Cobertura Fosca da Cor - Efeito Fosco (matte effect);
- Cobertura Transformadora da Cor - Reflexos Azulados (blue shimmer);
- Cobertura Transformadora da Cor - Reflexos Dourados (golden shimmer).

Thumb: matte effect
Index finger: blue shimmer on top of golden shimmer
Middle finger: golden shimmer
Ring finger: blue shimmer
Pinky finger: golden shimmer on top of blue shimmer

To finish it off, I 'mattified' 'em all!

Mattifying my Nail Art

And once again I decided to experiment with my matte top coat (Cobertura Fosca da Cor - Efeito Fosco, from Colorama).

I love the effect and the texture, and I also love how quickly I can change the look of my nails. I'll just apply it on top of whatever I'm wearing, wherever I am. No hassles with cleaning or anything!

Too bad the look doesn't last that long, at least not with this brand. The look gets greasy after a couple of days. No wonder why I wear it a couple of days before changing polishes! ;-)

Jeans for New Year's Eve?

Back home we have a bunch of New Year's Eve superstitions. We'll wear white party clothes for dinner. Your underwear should also be white, and new. There are fireworks after the countdown, welcoming the New Year. And if we're at the beach, we'll jump seven waves for good luck.

There were no fireworks after the countdown, and no waves to jump at sub-zero temperatures. I welcomed the New Year ice skating in my pink snow outfit. And wearing Jeans on my finger tips. ;-)

My plan was to layer Jeans with Prata (both Colorama), but it didn't work out that well. I started with two Prata coats, which is a very light silver with shimmer and pearl finishes. I layered one coat of Jeans on top, but the coverage wasn't good, requiring a second coat. The Prata was pretty much 'gone' by then...

I needed some sparkle for New Year's, which I achieved with the Cobertura Transformadora da Cor - Reflexos Azulados (Colorama), that blue shimmer top coat.

My New Year's resolution? Improve my layering techniques! ;-)

A few days later, before removing the manicure, I played with the matte finish once again (Cobertura Fosca da Cor - Efeito Fosco, Colorama).

It looked better than before, both the nail and the picture. It's nice and rewarding to see my techniques (and the photographer's) improving with time.

Merry (belated) Christmas!

On my search for brighter reds, Tia Má mentioned she liked to wear Carbono (Colorama) with some red polish (such as Maxi - Colorama - or Doce Orgulho - Risqué) layered on top.

I chose my darkest non-red polish, Hipnose (Colorama), and layered Santa Gula (Risqué) on top. Hipnose is a dark grey, almost steel in colour, with a shimmer and pearl finish. Santa Gula was the chosen red because its name is related to gluttony, which I found to be a good fit for Christmas dinner... :-p

I was not impressed with the result. The lighting in the hotel room didn't help, and I didn't care so much for the colour.

A few days later, I decided to try yet another top coat: Cobertura Fosca da Cor - Efeito Fosco (Colorama). It's a matte finish top coat. I liked the look and the finish, with a new tactile sensation.

The photo is a bit blurry, but it was the only one that captured the matte effect.
