And then we're back to red...

This turn's untried was Doce Orgulho (Risqué).

Not easy to put on, a nightmare to clean up, and a stained and uneven result.

After a few days, I decided to put my dotting tools to work, and try a bunch of different sized dots using Conhaque (Colorama). Looked like a chickenpoxed nail... ;-)

Redemption - a 2nd attempt at Nail Art

After my first (frustrated) nail art attempt, I decided to try again.

Rosa Chiclete (Colorama) was my base colour, since my first lesson was to use a lighter shade.

For the Water Marble, I used the Rosa Chiclete and Maxi (Colorama) pair once more. I L-O-V-E-D IT!!! ;)

Not so happy with my ombré, though. It looked a bit like a failed (and crooked) Colour Blocking, lacking a smooth transition from one colour to the other.

The base colour was Rosa Chiclete, followed by 5ª Avenida, Vinho Fashion and Maxi (all from Colorama).

I gotta learn how to sponge better, tapping lighter and less. And the colours were not my best choice

I find cleaning to be the hardest part of these Nail Arts. Specially Water Marbling!! My being right-handed is the reason for the marbling to be on my left hand...

So, is it any better?

My Nail Art Debut

Even before I started blogging, I used to follow a couple nail blogs here and there. Then I'd see a link to another one, and another, and a few more. Nowadays, I follow zillions of blogs through RSS feed, and a few more through email, because they don't offer the first option.

I saw that Nail Arts were trending and, at first, I thought I'd never venture that way. Oh boy, was I mistaken!

My first attempt was somewhat disastrous. I started by layering one coat of Maxi (Colorama) on top of my swirled mani, to even it out. On my ring fingers, I tried Water Marbling. And my pinky fingers suffered from a weird ombré art.

Lessons leaned:
#1: The base colour has to be lighter. Probably the lightest "of them all". ;-)
#2: It's a lot of work, and requires lots of patience! :-p

But I'll keep on trying...

Ski Ready!

Second part of the ski-outfit-matching series. This time we went to Mont Tremblant (QC) for a weekend, in a group trip organized by one of the student associations at the university.

In search of a reddish pink combination, I decided to layer two nail polishes from Colorama. Rosa Chiclete, bubblegum pink would be the best translation, looks like a failed attempt at a neon pink. It's very bright, though (my husband didn't like it, said it was too pink :-p). Maxi is a jelly burgundy, that I thought would go perfect layered on top of Rosa Chiclete.

My layering experiment didn't work that well, and the colours ended up swirling into each other. But I LOVED the effect. And I would've never achieved it, had I been trying it!

Drunken Nails

I needed a bright red polish to match my red-and-black dress, but all my reds (at the time I didn't even have 10 dark-coloured polishes) had pink notes to them.

So I went for one of my untried, that I'd brought with me from Brazil: Conhaque (Colorama). It's a dark burgundy with a creme finish, from a product line called Única Camada, which means 'one coat'. I wasn't able to have a good result with only one coat, but it could just be my lack of technique.

I found it hard to clean. It was still stained on my cuticles. As if I were drunk while painting them... :-p

I did like the end result, though! I even got compliments from the waitress at the mexican restaurant I went to. Not only did she love the colour, but she also put my order under the name 'nice nails'!! ;-)

Because I wanted brighter reds, I started asking my aunts (Cleide, Márcia and Tia Má) for their suggestions...
